Frequently Asked Questions..

Most questions can be answered by thinking of plant life as the human body. When we come down with the flu or other ailment, we take medicine to help cure it. But at the same time that same medicine will cause side effects and potentially another ailment which could make it necessary for another medicine or "treatment".

  • Why do I still see weeds in my yard after treatment?
Weeds can be persistent and challenging to manage, and there are several reasons why you might still see them after a treatment. Different species of weeds germinate at different times of the year, which means that even if we've treated for one type, others may emerge later. Some weeds are particularly tough and require specialized treatments. Additionally, certain species of weeds may be resistant to common herbicides and may need a more targeted approach. While it's not possible to completely eliminate every weed, we focus on reducing their growth and preventing them from spreading, ensuring your lawn stays as healthy as possible.

  • Why do the tips of my grass look burnt after a treatment?
In some cases, after applying herbicides or disease treatments, the tips of your grass may appear slightly burnt. This is often due to the use of stronger or more aggressive products designed to target specific weeds or diseases. Environmental factors, such as high temperatures or a lack of irrigation, can also play a role in this reaction. While these symptoms may be concerning, they are typically temporary, and your lawn will recover as the grass grows and the treatments take effect. Proper lawn care and watering will help mitigate this issue.

  • Should I water my yard after a treatment?
Yes, watering your lawn after a treatment is beneficial, but it's important to wait a few hours to allow the product to dry and settle on your lawn. This ensures that the herbicide or insecticide has time to bond with the weeds or pests. Watering too soon can wash away the treatment before it has had a chance to work. If your lawn was treated for pests or disease, watering later in the day, after the treatment has dried, helps to move the nutrients and insecticides down to the roots where they can be most effective.

  • Why do I still see bugs in my yard?
It’s important to understand that complete eradication of bugs is not feasible. Insects are mobile and can fly or crawl in from neighboring areas, meaning you may occasionally spot a few bugs in your yard. However, the presence of a few insects doesn't necessarily indicate an infestation. Many insects play beneficial roles in your landscape, such as natural predators of harmful pests like chinch bugs. Our treatments are designed to manage pest populations, but some presence of insects is normal and not always a cause for concern.

  • What could cause my yard to develop fungus, even though it receives treatments?
Fungal issues can be particularly tricky, as certain types of fungus remain dormant in the soil until the environmental conditions are right for growth. Over-watering, poor drainage, or the build-up of thatch can create an environment where fungus thrives. For example, brown patch is a common fungal issue that can return year after year, often in the same spot. While we can treat the fungus and manage its spread, the conditions that promote its growth must also be addressed. By focusing on treatment and proper lawn care, we can minimize the impact of fungus and prevent it from damaging your grass.

  • How often should I schedule lawn treatments?
To keep your lawn healthy and pest-free, regular treatments are necessary. We recommend a customized maintenance plan based on your lawn’s specific needs, which usually includes multiple visits throughout the year. Depending on the season and treatment goals, these visits might include fertilization, pest control, disease prevention, and weed management. Consistency is key to achieving long-term results and maintaining a beautiful, healthy lawn.

  • Can lawn treatments harm my pets or children?
At SunBright Services, we prioritize the safety of your family and pets. We use industry-standard, EPA-approved treatments that are safe when applied correctly. However, we always recommend allowing the products to dry and settle for a few hours before letting pets or children play on the treated areas. Our team will provide specific instructions for each treatment, ensuring that your lawn is safe and ready for use as soon as possible.

  • How do I know if my lawn needs treatment for pests or disease?
Signs that your lawn may need treatment for pests or disease include visible damage to the grass, such as thinning, browning, or yellowing. You might also notice increased insect activity, such as the presence of ants, beetles, or other pests that could be damaging your plants. If you notice unusual patterns in your lawn’s appearance or suspect an issue, it’s always a good idea to contact us for a consultation. We can assess the situation and recommend the appropriate treatment to restore your lawn’s health.

  • What happens if it rains after my lawn treatment?
Rain can sometimes impact the effectiveness of a lawn treatment, especially if it occurs too soon after application. If it rains within a few hours of your treatment, some of the product may wash away before it has been fully absorbed. However, many of our treatments are designed to be rain-resistant after a certain period of time. We’ll provide guidance on when it’s best to reschedule if rain is expected, to ensure your treatment is as effective as possible.
